Evictions Steenvilla-Retreat
The Housing Assembly strongly condemn SOHCO for the evictions taking place at Steenvilla in Retreat,Cape Town Western Cape,while SOHCO is aware that we are still waiting on the Department of Human Settlements to respond to our correspondence we sent on behalf of the Steenvilla Tenants.
We Condemn the evictions taking place under the Covid-19 lockdown regulations while we at a high health risk of the Omicron Variant and the Tenants are economically unable to sustain themselves and pay the exhorbitant Rent.
The Tenants are still waiting on the Department of Human Settlements to release the R600 million Covid-19 rent relief that was promised to Beneficiaries living in Social Housing.
We are in the process of asking the National Department of Human Settlements to intervene and stop this illegal eviction
